Mohammed Ali BSc, PGCE
Mohammed Ali started with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) in 2003 and has worked in Fire Prevention Department. He was promoted to District Prevention Manager for Kirklees in 2011. Mohammed has a huge interest and passion in promoting community Safety. He is currently leading on the dementia Strategy for WYFRS. Mohammed has signed up as a dementia champion with the aim of increasing awareness and promoting dementia friends initiative. Prior to joining WYFRS Mohammed worked with WYMAS as a direct entry paramedic.
Mohammed Joined the AFSA in 2013 and has been an active member. He has taken on the role of Regional Chair for the North East Region and last year he took on the responsibility of the National Vice Secretary post.
In 2013 Mohammed took on an international project through AFSA. This involved in carrying out a scoping visit to Lahore, Pakistan, assessing the current status of the Punjab Rescue 1122. The project aims are to provide support and training to the Punjab Rescue 1122 to strengthen their capability in terms of dealing with Major Disasters and also fire fighting and to bring them to international standards.
In spare time Mohammed does a lot of voluntary work. He is a Community First Responder for Yorkshire Ambulance Service, which involves attending and supporting the Yorkshire Ambulance Service in attending emergencies. Mohammed is also a volunteer with St John Ambulance in the capacity of Area Manager for Bradford And Calderdale. This role involves managing the volunteers within the area, providing first aid cover at number of events including local football and rugby club.
