On-call Recruitment Officer

·         £23398 Per annum

·         Fixed Term – until December 2018

·         37 hours per week

·         Full UK driving licence required

·         Location – Fire Service Headquarters, Hinchingbrooke Cottage, Brampton Road, Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire, PE29 2NA

The Service is looking for an On-call Recruitment Officer (FTC until December 2018) to join our busy Recruitment Team.

The post holder will be required to:

  • Provide guidance and direction on the most appropriate recruitment activities for each of our On-call fire stations
  • Co-ordinate the activities of the station, ensuring the benefits of each campaign are maximised
  • Plan, organise and participate in recruitment fairs / open days / recruitment days
  • Promote the On-call Firefighter role to businesses by visiting premises, generating contacts, arranging meetings and giving talks

A Seminar on Engaging Ethnic Minority Businesses

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service in partnership with CFOA Northwest Protection Task Group and the Asian Fire Service Association hosting a seminar on engaging with minority ethnic business owners.  The seminar is on the 17th September 2015 at Aintree Racecourse – Merseyside.


In the afternoon there will be a series of workshops for which we need your help.  If you have some good practices of work and engaging with minority ethnic businesses and would like to share those in the workshops can you please let me know.


The themes of the workshops are


  1. Understanding the nature of Black & Minority Ethnic Businesses and their attitude and approach to fire safety risks
  2. How to break down language barriers and build better relationships with Black & Minority Ethnic businesses.
  3. How to support Business Safety Legislation
  4. Learning lessons from other sectors
