Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service in partnership with CFOA Northwest Protection Task Group and the Asian Fire Service Association hosting a seminar on engaging with minority ethnic business owners. The seminar is on the 17th September 2015 at Aintree Racecourse – Merseyside.
In the afternoon there will be a series of workshops for which we need your help. If you have some good practices of work and engaging with minority ethnic businesses and would like to share those in the workshops can you please let me know.
The themes of the workshops are
- Understanding the nature of Black & Minority Ethnic Businesses and their attitude and approach to fire safety risks
- How to break down language barriers and build better relationships with Black & Minority Ethnic businesses.
- How to support Business Safety Legislation
- Learning lessons from other sectors

The team will depart for Delhi in late September 2015. Pav will be keeping a diary and picture log of events and training, this will be posted on the London Fire Brigade Website and Hotwire page as well as Pavs and AFSA Facebook page.

National conference 2015
This years National Conference is to be held at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. Over the years AFSA has gone from strength to strength with the support from over 32 Fire and Rescue Services
The AFSA National conference is held annually between October to November, the format of the two day conference includes a mixture of plenary sessions with leading speakers and inter active workshops.
Day 1 comprises of:
- Welcome by the Host Brigade
- Key note Speech by the Fire Minister (if available)
- 4 Plenary Session s
- Lunch & Networking
- Further 2 plenary’s
- 4 workshops
- Q& A panel
On the evening of Day 1 in collaboration with the Brigade AFSA host an Gala Charity Dinner which includes a celebration of Success through the year, including cultural entertainment and dinner / Dance!
Day 2 has a similar format to Day one ending with a summary and close of the Conference
